Jefferson County Commission honors Bessemer City Middle School robotics champions

BESSEMER, Ala. — The Jefferson County Commission recently recognized the seventh-grade students of Bessemer City Middle School for their dominant performance in the 2025 CoderZ League Robotics Competition. Competing against 120 schools nationwide, the Bessemer teams secured three of the top six spots in the national standings. The Bessemer Warriors were crowned national champions, taking first place through a display of teamwork and STEM precision. Following closely behind, Bessemer’s Bad Witches secured the second-place spot, and the Techno Tigers finished in sixth place.

The commission praised the students as future engineers and innovators who have placed Jefferson County on the national map for academic excellence. "These outstanding seventh graders showed what happens when innovation, hard work, and determination come together," the commission noted during the recognition. "The future of STEM is bright — and it’s happening right here at home."

The CoderZ League is a virtual robotics competition that challenges students to use coding and computational thinking to solve complex missions, preparing them for careers in technology and engineering.
