Teacher Honored by County Commission

The Jefferson County Commission issued a proclamation honoring Dr. Yuvraj Verma of Bessemer City Schools for being named a 2024 Grand Prize Finalist for the National LifeChanger Teacher of the Year Award. Commissioners Joe Knight, Lashunda Scales, Sheila Tyson, Mike Bolin and Jimmie Stephens presented the proclamation. The commission also issued proclamations to Farrah Cureton and Tiffany Wilson-Pugh, who are 2025 nominees for the award. Maci Cargile coordinated the event. Bessemer City Middle School Principal Lisa Heard and Bessemer City Schools Superintendent Dr. Dana Arreola attended the ceremony. Rachel Campbell was thanked for her assistance during the event.
